Academic Mentor

Do you have a degree and a passion for helping young people with additional needs thrive in a secondary school environment?

Are you ready to support students with Autism through focused academic and emotional support?

*** Academic Mentor

*** Immediate start until July 2025

*** £81 - £98 per day

*** ‘Good’ secondary school, Walsall

*** 1:1 and small group support for students with Autism

The Role:

As an Academic Mentor, you will support students with Autism on a one-to-one and small group basis, helping them engage with learning across a range of subjects. You’ll work alongside teachers to adapt resources, reinforce key concepts, and build students’ confidence both academically and socially. Your role will be central to ensuring that pupils feel supported, understood, and capable in the classroom.

The Candidate:

You should hold a degree in any subject and demonstrate a calm, compassionate approach to working with young people. Strong communication skills and a willingness to understand individual learning needs are essential. Any previous experience supporting students with Autism or additional needs will be highly valued.

Requirements

Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.

Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.

Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.

Desire to work in education/with children – A genuine interest in supporting pupils with additional needs and making a positive impact.
