1-1 Support Assistant

Description

Leader Education are recruiting for a 1:1 Support Assistant to work at a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Secondary School based in North Shields. The successful 1:1 Support Assistant will have prior experience working with children who have SEND, a strong knowledge base on how to support children within the classroom and be able to work with children on a 1:1 basis.

The normal working pattern is Monday-Friday 8:30am until 4:30pm and is a long-term position.

The successful candidate will have:

An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one

Experience and knowledge conducting 1:1 or small group support with students, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life

An ability to assist with classroom activities, providing necessary accommodations and modifications to meet individual student's needs

Experience and knowledge on monitoring and recording student progress, can report to teachers, and adapt support strategies when needed

Can assist with behavioural management, ensuring a safe and respectful school environment for all students
