1:1 Teaching Assistant – Primary School – Southend

Location: Southend-on-Sea, Essex

Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Vision for Education is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with special educational needs in a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Southend. This is a full-time role, offering a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact on a child’s learning and development.

The Role:

Work closely with a pupil on a 1:1 basis to support their academic, emotional, and social development

Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to deliver tailored learning and behaviour support

Adapt lesson content and provide targeted interventions to help the pupil engage and progress

Foster a nurturing and structured environment to promote positive learning outcomes

Monitor the pupil’s progress and assist with documentation for support plans and reviews

The Ideal Candidate:

Has previous experience supporting children with SEN, ideally within a school setting

Is calm, patient, and resilient, with a proactive and supportive approach

Possesses excellent communication and behaviour management skills

Understands the needs of children with additional learning, emotional or behavioural challenges

Holds a relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning – desirable but not essential)
