Description

In-Person Tutor - Supporting School-Refusing Students

September start | Flexible hours | Term-time only | SEN, Mental Health & Behaviour Support

Are you a patient, empathetic, and experienced educator looking for a role where you can make a genuine impact?

We're looking for committed In-Person Tutors to work with children and young people who are currently unable to attend school due to SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs. You'll provide 1:1 tuition tailored to each learner, helping them reconnect with education, rebuild confidence, and rediscover their love of learning.

This is a truly rewarding opportunity to change lives - one student at a time.

What You'll Do:

Deliver 1:1 tuition sessions during school hours (typically 9:00-3:00, Monday to Friday).

Teach core subjects (English, Maths, Science) using creative, personalised approaches.

Support students in their homes or community settings.

Focus on building trust, motivation, and engagement - not just academic progress.

Liaise with parents, carers, schools, and professionals to monitor progress.

Keep clear records of learning outcomes and feedback.

Hours & Flexibility:

Students usually receive 6 - 15 hours of tuition per week.

All sessions take place during school hours - your evenings and weekends are free.

More hours can be offered if you wish to take on additional students.

Ideal for those seeking meaningful, flexible part-time or term-time work.

About You:

Experience teaching or tutoring children, ideally those with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs.

Confident working independently and managing your own schedule.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Resilient, adaptable, and patient - able to celebrate small steps as big wins.

Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain) and safeguarding knowledge.

A driving licence and access to transport is often essential.

Why This Role Matters:

Many of the young people you'll support may have been out of school for months, even years. For some, your sessions may be the only consistent learning they receive. This isn't just about teaching - it's about showing up, believing in them, and helping them believe in themselves.

Ready to Make a Difference?

If you're passionate about helping students who need extra support - and want flexible work that makes a real impact - we'd love to hear from you
