The Bush MB60 (1957) is a stylish two-band valve radio designed by David Ogle, famous for its innovative Ogle Design case that became iconic in the late 1950s. This portable radio operates on either mains power or batteries, allowing for flexible use, and its design was so successful that it was later adapted for Bush's highly popular TR82 transistor radio.
The MB60’s cream molded plastic case, accented with a red rexine band and brass "BUSH" lettering and trim, gave it a stylish and distinctive look for its time
Key features & history:
Stylish Design: The MB60 featured a distinctively designed case, a signature element of David Ogle's work, which contributed to its popularity and made it an icon of late 1950s British design.
Valve Radio: The MB60 was a valve-based (vacuum tube) portable radio, a significant technological development of its time for portability.
Two-Band Operation: It was a two-band portable radio, meaning it could receive signals on two different frequency bands, a standard feature for radios of that era.
Mains/Battery Operation: The "MB" in the model designation "MB60" stands for Mains/Battery, indicating its capability to operate on both AC mains electricity & batteries, offering versatility for users.
