Description
A boutique custom built cabinet from Blind Dog Amplification who make hand wired valve amps in the New Forest. It is made from high quality birch ply, finished with Blind Dog's trademark laser engraved art deco diamond pattern to top and sides and the rising sun baffle cut out, 55cm x 55 cm x 30cm.
It is open backed and uses a floating baffle in the Fender Tweed style, and as there is no additional damping from a tolex covering, it makes for a very lively character. It is fitted with a vintage Goodmans Audiom 60 Alnico 12" driver which dates from at latest the very early sixties and likely late fifties which is itself a sought after item and in excellent condition-this design was used in early Vox/JMI and Selmer amps amongst others.
The combination sounds great, lots of presence, plenty of warmth and bottom end but with a sweetness and clarity in the mids and top-it is very articulate indeed (too much so for my playing). The driver is rated at 15W so as-is, it is very much intended for use with lower powered valve amps and would be ideal for home and studio use but the driver is efficient and a lot of volume is available from very little power so it could be gigged for blues & jazz if desired (and I doubt that the Triple Rec djent crowd would be after this style anyway).
It can be demoed using my Cornell Romany or Laney Lionheart amps with a range of guitars or you are welcome to bring your own-I would very much prefer a buyer to try it out and collect in person. Location is Newcastle NE3.
