About this child/client: Harry, 38, lives at home with his caring family and is supported by a small, dedicated team. Known and loved in his local Holloway community, Harry enjoys dance, music, swimming, the gym, Boccia, Church and spending time at his allotment, where he is creating a sensory garden. Harry has cerebral palsy, a learning disability and experiences high levels of anxiety, particularly around change or unfamiliar situations. He uses a 3-wheeler trike for local travel and requires support with personal care, meal preparation, budgeting, shopping and accessing the community.

Overview of role: You will support Harry to participate in his chosen activities while promoting his independence and helping him express his wishes appropriately. Harry follows a planned routine and enjoys knowing what activities are happening in advance. He walks independently but can lose balance, so you will need to remain vigilant and physically fit to support him. New support workers are introduced gradually to help Harry feel safe and comfortable, often meeting first at familiar places such as his allotment or dance studio.

Who this role would suit: A motivated, energetic and patient *male Support Worker who enjoys building trusting relationships and working closely with families. You will be a team player, confident following care plans, contributing ideas and supporting Harry to live life to the fullest. Strong communication skills are essential, and an interest in gardening would be a bonus. Harry says his ideal support worker is “someone kind and patient.”

What’s great about this job: Full induction and training are provided, including a 16-week induction programme. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone considering a career in social care, working with a genuinely caring family and helping Harry thrive within his community.
