We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Personal Assistant to support a fun-loving and active 16-year-old boy with cerebral palsy and complex needs, including challenging behaviours.

This young man is full of energy and passion—he loves football, basketball (and is brilliant at both!), gaming, theatre, and trips to the cinema. He especially enjoys musicals, with Grease holding a special place in his heart.

The ideal candidate will be someone patient, understanding, and energetic, who can keep up with his lively personality and help him get the most out of each day. While he is mobile and very active, he needs the right person to support him in engaging safely and positively in the activities he enjoys.

This is a rewarding role for someone who truly wants to make a difference in a young person’s life by supporting independence and fun. The position offers up to 30 hours per week on a flexible and varied rota.

If you're compassionate, proactive, and ready to be a positive part of this young man’s world, we’d love to hear from you

Duties include:

- Medication prompting/administering

- Personal grooming

- Eating and drinking assistance

- Moving and handling

- Cooking

- Transportation

- Dressing / undressing

- Bathroom assistance

- Personal care

Candidate qualities:

- Able to tolerate the employer smoking in the workplace

- Reliable with good timekeeping

- Hygienic, tidy and well organised

- Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties

- Honest and cheerful

- Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard

- Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

Additional requirements

Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours

Notes:

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.

If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.

Please note: If you do not hear back within three weeks of applying, unfortunately your application has not been successful on this occasion.
