Graduate Trainee Teaching Assistants – Work in and around Peterlee

Location: Near Easington, County Durham

Start Date: ASAP or January 2026

Contract: Full-time, Part-time & Flexible Opportunities

Looking to start your career in education? Here’s your chance to make a difference every single day.

We’re working with a nurturing, inclusive school in the heart of County Durham that supports children and young people with additional learning needs. The setting is calm, creative, and genuinely committed to helping every pupil grow in confidence and independence.

You’ll be joining a team that believes in compassion over correction, support over stress. It’s a place where smiles matter as much as timetables, and where every small win is celebrated.

What you’ll be doing:

Supporting pupils with special educational needs in small, structured classes

Helping to create a safe, positive, and encouraging learning environment

Working alongside teachers and therapists to deliver tailored support

Building trust and confidence with pupils who may find school challenging

Who we’re looking for:

Graduates with any degree background – no school experience needed

A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND and helping them thrive

Great communicators who are patient, empathetic, and eager to learn

Team players who bring enthusiasm and energy to the classroom

What’s on offer:

Flexible day-to-day work to suit your schedule

Long-term, full-time roles with potential to become permanent

FREE training, including Thrive and SEND development courses

Weekly pay through PAYE (no umbrella companies)

1:1 support from your local Protocol Education consultant

A clear route into teaching, psychology, or wider education careers

If you’re someone who wants to start every week knowing you’re making a difference, this is your perfect first step.

Apply today or message us to find out more about becoming part of this inspiring team.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
