Offered here is a 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Windovers limousine currently presented in Black over Blue with a Gold fine line. It appears to have the original brown leather interior in the front and a beige cloth interior in the rear, separated by a glass division. Purchased by the vendor's family-run business in the 50's, it has remained in their care since. This example has been treated to a considerable amount of money spent on mechanical work from 2002-2007, accumulating up to £11,860.

This truly is a special car, covering 96,000 miles from new whilst in the vendor's family care. It appears the car used to be Dark Green at some point in its life; there is evidence of this inside the boot, and the buff logbook states it was green in August 1980. Currently now in Black over Blue with a gold fine line. There are signs of sporadic micro blistering in various places around the body, with a few age-related dents and scuffs here and there, to be expected from a car of this age and mileage.

The interior appears to be largely original, featuring brown leather upholstery in the front and beige cloth in the rear. The leather upholstery is nicely patinated, although there are a few rips and tears in the driver seats, we think it adds to the charm of the lovely Rolls. The rear cloth upholstery had held up well over its 88-year life span, with only a few scuffs on the arms of the rear bench. The occasional seats are in fine working order, as are the rear blinds and the glass division.

Mechanically, this Rolls-Royce is in fine fettle, starting up on a swift press of the button. The V12 engine pulls well through all the gears, and the gearbox feels in good order. This Phantom III benefits from mechanical work carried out between 2002-2007, only 3,000 miles ago. The works are outlined below:

Phantom III decoke set by Theo Hendrickson in December 2002 to the sum of £386.48
Carburettor main casting (float chamber), Carburettor accelerator pump (complete), Carburettor jets and tubes, Carburettor poppet valve, Carburettor needle/seating/washer, Carburettor float hinge pin/washer, Carburettor gaskets, 1 used pushrod by John Little Ltd in February 2003 to the sum of £2610.50
Upper gearbox mountings, lower gearbox mountings, spring steel transmission discs by John Little Ltd in September 2003 to the sum of £513.65
Rear casting, impeller, impeller shaft, impeller adjuster assembly, union/aluminium washer, 2 gland packings, water pump to block ‘o’ ring, compressor for above item, UPS standard/pack by John Little Ltd in February 2005 to the sum of £752.60
Subject to engine rebuild, including; 12 cylinder liners, 12 pistons complete, 24 cylinder liner sealing rings, engine gasket set less rocker cover gaskets, engine oil filter conversion set by John Little Ltd in November 2006 to the sum of £5,012.60
Fully restore Rolls Royce Phantom III radiator, complete with new cell film core by Spencer’s radiators in 2007 to the sum of £2585
A lovely piece of motoring history, and in long term ownership, be sure not to miss out on this imposing luxury limousine - you won’t be disappointed.
