Electronics Design Engineer

Description

We are seeking an Electronics Design Engineer to join a global leader in their sector, based in Saltash. You will have the opportunity to design, develop, and test electronic circuits and systems, working on projects from concept through to production. The successful candidate will deliver solutions, ensure designs meet strict quality and legislative standards, and collaborate with internal teams. This is permanent opportunity will be on-site 5 days a week.

Responsibilities

* Develop creative and effective solutions to meet design requirements and resolve product-related issues.

* Design, develop, and test electronic circuits, ensuring compliance with functionality, cost, quality, safety, legislative, reliability, and aesthetic criteria.

* Create PCB layouts that meet performance, compliance, and cost requirements.

* Oversee the manufacture of prototype PCB assemblies and produce documentation to support timely, cost-effective, and high-quality manufacturing.

* Design, develop, and test wiring looms to required specifications for performance, safety, and reliability.

* Carry out verification and validation processes, producing detailed reports on designed electronics and the systems they integrate with.

* Perform pre-compliance EMC testing to ensure products are robust and capable of passing required legislative tests.

* Work alongside Production Engineering to ensure all designs are fully testable and produce associated test requirement specifications.

* Liaise with suppliers, in partnership with purchasing, to resolve technical issues and source new components while maintaining a secure supply chain.

* Prepare and maintain project documentation throughout development, including specifications, BOMs, test schedules, reports, training guides, and service manuals.

* Provide technical support to other departments for released products.

Experience

* BSc/BEng in a relevant electronics engineering or design discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

* Professional experience as an Electronics Design or Development Engineer, or similar role.

* Background in research and prototyping within an electronics discipline.

* Proven ability to generate solutions to design challenges.

* Experience in circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB layout.

* Ability to produce accurate and detailed project documentation.

* Experience liaising with suppliers to resolve technical issues.

* Strong technical report writing skills.
