For sale: a BSA A65 MkII Spitfire 650cc parallel twin engine, ideal for classic motorcycle restoration or custom cafe racer builds. Originally purchased as a spare for my own Spitfire, this engine has undergone a detailed inspection and partial rebuild. It’s a rare survivor — never previously stripped — and shows minimal wear internally.
Perfect for enthusiasts seeking a British vintage motorcycle engine with solid bones and fresh components.
📋 Key Features & Condition
• Standard crankshaft with original main bearings and big ends
• Cylinder bores in excellent condition — no visible wear
• New 68-473 camshaft installed
• New piston assemblies with rings gapped at 0.008"
• Cylinder head (68-701) rebuilt with phosphor bronze valve guides, new inlet valves, and springs
• Gloss black refinished cylinder block
• Updated enclosed-winding alternator and rotor
• New gearbox final drive sprocket (21-tooth)
• Oil pump rebuilt with new tacho drive
• Primary drive chain, crank sprocket, and clutch basket replaced
• Direct rocker oil feed conversion fitted
• New cylinder head studs and bolts
• External fasteners replaced where available

• Clutch rod plunger and bearing
• Press springs need resetting
• Rev counter shaft and outer housing (old unit seized)
• Ignition timing setup (comes with cam, advance unit, points plate, and fittings — not installed to allow for electronic ignition option)
• Tappets require adjustment
• Outer casings would benefit from polishing
• Oil levels need checking
• Engine requires running-in — only bench tested
• Kickstart and gear lever not included
