Standalone HR Advisor Derby GBP35k

About the Company:

A well known fashion business in Derby is entering an exciting period of growth and expansion. To support this, they are creating a brand-new in-house HR function. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR professional to take ownership of both HR and Health & Safety within the business.

The Role:

As the HR Advisor, you will be the first point of contact for all HR matters, while also overseeing workplace H&S. You ll work closely with managers and employees across the business, providing expert guidance, ensuring compliance, and driving best practice in both HR and H&S. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has worked in a standalone HR role, or who is ready to step up into one.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide day-to-day HR support to managers and employees.

Manage the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, contracts, performance reviews, training, and leavers.

Advise on employee relations issues such as disciplinaries, grievances, and absence management in line with employment law.

Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee records.

Support with organisational development, engagement, and retention initiatives.

Write, review, and implement H&S policies and risk assessments.

Ensure incidents and accidents are reported, investigated, and actions followed up.

Liaise with external bodies and regulators where required.

Experience & Qualifications

Previous HR experience, ideally in a standalone position within an SME.

CIPD Level 3 qualified (essential), Level 5 or working towards (desirable).

Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.

Experience of disciplinary, grievance, and performance processes.

Ability to write policies and monitor H&S compliance.

Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.

Full UK driving license and access to own transport (essential).
