Stunning Kung Classica bass/basset recorder in F - direct blow- in solid rosewood. This beautiful recorder is in excellent condition, complete with semi rigid case in canvas with leather trim, finger chart, neck strap and cleaning rod.
Swiss made Kung recorders are well renowned and although discontinued the classica range are still well regarded by players. With bronzed keys and in lovely rich rosewood it is a handsome recorder. It is also a very agile player for a bass recorder. The Kung Classica range were Kungs own version of “stylised” baroque recorders and were manufactured for years. They often used single blocks of exotic woods in their recorders which added to their quality and appearance.
I assume this particular model is one of the last as it has a double key for F F# and has a case similar to the current Kung models. Direct blow also is advantageous in that there is no awkward crook to deal with.
Superb sound and easily plays two octaves and a note, the Kung key system makes accidental notes better in tune and easier to play in fast runs.
Very reluctant sale but unfortunately arthritis has made it difficult for me to cover all the holes accurately and it now needs to go to a new home where it will be played and enjoyed.
The Early Music shop currently has one for sale for over £1000 so this superb example is a bargain.
