I’ve been living aboard my cosyhome for nearly seven years and it’s time for a new adventure. ‘Harbinger’ (Bringer of the New) is a wooden pleasure yacht made of Oak and Oroko wood, copper-clenched with Teak and Mahogany decks and interior. A one-off, based off a Norseman 30 design, this boat was a prototype by Fox and Sons that proved too expensive to go into full production. Registered 1964.
Very pretty with lots of original features like a Bengo solid fuel burner, wooden tiller and candle lamps.
Sleeps four, two in a bedroom, two in the living space. Skylight window and original copper portholes. I’ve been using a small, electric oven and two-ring hob, it also comes with the original alcohol cooker that could be reinstalled. The loo was replaced in 2023 and has rarely been used. It flushes with water from a freshwater tank.
There’s a large awning, reconditioned in 2023, enables five people to sit outdoors undercover.
The engine is a Beta-Marine but doesn’t go; water got into the heat exchanger and the quote I got was between £300 and £1000 to fix, this is reflected in the price. Leisure batteries and charger were replaced in 2023.
This is a vintage boat with personality. There are places you can see where she’s been repaired over the years, some pretty, others less so. She’s sturdy and has circumnavigated the UK. This would suit someone looking for a lifestyle change or with time on their hands.

Daily visitors; starlings and turnstones.

Currently at Brighton, viewing is by appt only. The monthly berthing fees at Brighton are around £490 pcm. Facilities include wi-fi and and hot showers on the jetty.
