Description

Are you passionate about inclusive education? Do you have the skills and enthusiasm to support a creative, energetic, and curious child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in reaching their full potential?

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work one-to-one with our 6-year-old son, a vibrant and determined Year 2 student enrolled in the bilingual English and French program at Ecole de Wix in Clapham, part of the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in our son’s life while joining a supportive school community.

Our son is a bright and inquisitive child who thrives in a structured, nurturing environment. He has a fantastic memory, loves creative activities like drawing and constructing models, and is bilingual in English and French. He is a joy to work with, bringing his cheeky sense of humor and unique perspective to every interaction. He’s progressing in his academic and emotional development but requires tailored support to help him regulate his emotions, engage with peers, and transition between tasks.

As his Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide one-to-one support: Help him access his bilingual curriculum by adapting tasks to his needs and interests while keeping him engaged and focused.

• Foster social development: Encourage and facilitate his interactions with peers, helping him develop essential social and communication skills.

• Support emotional regulation: Use tools such as visual aids, timers, and sensory strategies to help him manage transitions and challenging situations.

• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team: Work alongside his teachers (French and English), occupational therapist, speech and language therapist, and family to implement his Individual Development Plan and ensure consistency across home and school environments.

• Celebrate his achievements: Encourage his strengths, from his love of music to his knack for creative play, and help him build confidence in all aspects of his development.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in SEND support: You have a strong understanding of ASD, emotional regulation strategies, and tools for sensory integration.

• Patient and empathetic: You’re calm under pressure and able to build a trusting relationship with our son, helping him feel secure and understood.

• Creative and adaptable: You can tailor learning activities to his interests to keep him motivated and engaged.

• A strong communicator: You’re skilled at working collaboratively with professionals and families to create a consistent and supportive approach.

• Proactive and reflective: You’re ready to embrace challenges, think on your feet, and adapt your strategies to suit our son’s evolving needs.

• French-speaking (optional): While not essential, proficiency in French would be a bonus.

Why Join Us?

• Rewarding Work: Be part of our son’s growth journey, helping him develop the skills and confidence to thrive both academically and socially.

• Professional Development: Access training opportunities to enhance your SEND expertise and further your career.

• Supportive Environment: Join a dedicated team committed to inclusion and the well-being of every student and staff member.

• Dynamic School Setting: Work in a bilingual school environment that values creativity and cultural diversity.
