Kaffir LILY PLANTS or SEEDS. Schizostylis From the 'Very Special Seed' collection from Touchwood

Hi, I'm Carrie Thomas of Touchwood, and I am crazy about plants and gardening. I grow many special, unusual and rare plants and will share seeds of some here as part of my 'Very Special Seeds' collection.

Here I offer plants or seeds of Kaffir Lily, Schizostylus coccinea (although we now have to call these beauties Hesperantha coccinea). A more PC common name has also been brought in: crimson flag lily. Easy from seed (they will self-sow), although this is the first year I am sowing them myself... already I have tiny seedlings (February).

These flowers love the sun and will lean towards it so site them in your garden where that will be easy for them. Once grown the clumps of leaves expand each year, quickly bulking up and providing you with new plants in an enlarging patch.

These plants flower at about 50-60cms

WHY GROW THIS PLANT? - Do I really have to write anything, don't the photos say more than I ever could? -
Ok, here goes further persuasion (one could almost say 'guilding the lily' !! cringe!!)
It flowers in the autumn when everything else has finished, is dying or just looking very worse for wear.
