Description

About Me

I obtained both my ABRSM Grade 8 during high school then completed a Psychology degree at the University of Scotland. I have been teaching piano for seven years now. A lot of my work experience outside of teaching is with students who have ASD, learning disabilities, and mental health diagnoses. Therefore, similar students (both children and adult), and those who are not, are welcome to my cosy and relaxed lessons.

I started playing when I was 6, after nagging my parents and then future piano teacher for lessons. She took me on a year earlier than was usual for her due to my constant two year asking. During high school I attended the Junior Conservatoire of Scotland for clarinet and later piano. I enjoy teaching as I can pass on all that I have learned throughout the years and hopefully some of the passion that I had for music.

About the Lesson Plan

Each lesson will be individually tailored to suit each students. The previous lesson would give an indication of the next lesson, as well as the first five minutes of that lesson to see if there are any unexpected changes that have occurred from the previous lesson. My main aim is to make sure the student is enjoying their time learning piano and/or clarinet and that the flow of the lessons suit their learning needs.

Types of Lessons

Intensive Course (at your home and online)

An intensive course is five two-hour lessons spread throughout one week or over five weeks. For example, a two hour lesson Monday to Friday for a week, or a two hour lesson every Monday (changeable) for five weeks.
This comes at a cheaper rate than singular lessons, however is designed only to do the following:

learn a piece - £300
grade 5 theory ABRSM - £300
extra exam prep - £300

I find 'learn a piece' will suit those who do not have a lot of time but would like to learn a piece they have always wanted to play.
'Grade 5 theory ABRSM' will suit those wanting to learn some higher level theory or kick-start/complete their Grade 5 theory journey. (Other grades may be available if this is something you would like. Just contact me.)
'Extra exam prep' is for those either with another teacher or self-taught who are sitting an exam soon (ABRSM, high-school, or other) and would like some more time with a tutor to run through some aural, scales, sight-reading, and piece support.

Private Lesson (at your home and online)

30 minutes - £20
45 minutes - £30
1 hour - £35

What Length of Lesson Should I Book?

I am currently taking on those who would like to do an intensive course with priority, however still contact me if you would strongly prefer to do singular lessons and we can discuss it!

For younger children, I would recommend a 30 minute lesson.
For beginner adults, I would recommend a 30 minute lesson.
For passionate children and adults, I would recommend a 45 minute lesson.
For those wanting more time to explore a lot more within one lesson, I would recommend an hour lesson.
