Role Description

As a Full-time Family Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting our solicitors and clients throughout various family law proceedings. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, from case preparation and document management to client communication and courtroom assistance. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong multitasking abilities and a passion for family law.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist solicitors in all aspects of family law cases, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and property division

* Conduct initial client interviews and gather relevant information for case assessment

* Prepare and file legal documents, including petitions, motions, and responses

* Manage case files and ensure all documentation is organised and up-to-date

* Draft correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel

* Conduct legal research and analyse case law relevant to ongoing matters

* Assist in the preparation of financial disclosures and asset division proposals

* Coordinate with experts, such as child custody evaluators and forensic accountants

* Schedule and attend client meetings, depositions, and court hearings

* Maintain and update case calendars and deadlines

* Prepare exhibits and trial binders for court appearances

* Assist attorneys during mediation sessions and settlement negotiations

* Communicate with clients regularly to provide updates and gather information

* Perform conflict checks and maintain client confidentiality

* Collaborate with other paralegals and support staff to ensure efficient case management

Required Qualifications

* 1-5 years of experience as a paralegal in family law

* Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or related field

* Strong knowledge of family law procedures, local court rules, and filing requirements

* Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Strong organisational and time management abilities

* Attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
