Description

SJC Partners are working with a thriving law firm in Surrey which are looking to hire an experinced Private Client Paralegal.

The firm is seeking an experienced and highly organised Private Client Paralegal to join its growing team. The successful candidate will have at least four years’ experience supporting fee-earners in a busy Private Client department and will be confident managing their own caseload with minimal supervision. This role is suited to an individual who is proactive, detail-focused, and committed to delivering exceptional client care.

Key Responsibilities

Managing a varied caseload of Private Client matters, including:

Wills and lasting powers of attorney (LPAs)

Probate and estate administration

Trust administration

Tax and estate planning support

Drafting legal documents, letters, and forms with accuracy and attention to detail.

Liaising with clients, beneficiaries, executors, and third parties in a professional and compassionate manner.

Conducting legal research and assisting fee-earners with technical matters as required.

Preparing and submitting HMCTS and HMRC applications (e.g., Probate, inheritance tax forms).

Collecting, reviewing, and organising financial information relating to estates and trusts.

Maintaining up-to-date case files and ensuring compliance with firm procedures and regulatory requirements (SRA, GDPR, AML).

Supporting solicitors and the wider team with ad-hoc administrative duties. Skills & Requirements

Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a Private Client legal environment (essential).

Strong understanding of probate processes, inheritance tax, Will drafting, and LPAs.

Ability to manage files independently and prioritise competing deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

High level of professionalism, empathy, and client-handling ability.

Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

Proficiency with case management systems and Microsoft Office.

STEP or other relevant qualifications (advantageous but not essential). What the Firm Offers
