Ability to
1. Use painting tools and equipment commonly in use in the professional painting business.
2. Select and match colors to coordinate with district-wide color schemes.
3. Prepare a variety of surfaces for painting or other surface coverings.
4. Erect and work from scaffolding, riggings and ladders.
5. Observe and apply painting trade safety standards and procedures.
6. Use a variety of tools and operate equipment utilized in the painting trade.
7.Maintain tools and equipment in a clean and proper working condition.
8. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Environment
• Indoor/outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures exceeding 35 degrees at times.
• Regular exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises.
• Working on ladders at varying heights.
• Regular exposure to vapors from paints and solvents.
• Exposure to loud noises from equipment operation.
Physical Demands
• Climbing ladders and working from heights as necessary.
• Occasional bending, kneeling, and twisting.
• Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Standing for extended periods of time.
• Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
• Continuous hand-eye coordination and manipulation of large and small objects to operate painting
equipment and tools.
• Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner.
Hazards
• Working with chemicals, tools, and powered machinery.
