Launceston, Cornwall
£250
Description
The classic English sofa design known simply as 'The Knole' stems from the earliest sofa known from Knole house in Sevenoaks, designed in the 17th century and used by royalty. The drop down sides secured with decorative roped tassels attached to wooden finials are these days considered as day beds, historically these enabled wide hooped skirts to be accommodated. There is an abundance of information available on the web on the history of this very English design.
The flexible design allows for one or both sides to be dropped down creating a day bed or chaise arrangement. So comfortable just ensure you have done your tasks for the day as you won't want to get out...
This specific example is english made approx 20 years old. Excellent quality and in good overall cared for condition, all the Cushions are included in the price. There is one small cushion and three large all filled with duck feathers. There are on close inspection some marks to the fabric, I haven't attempted to remove the covers but they can be washed being cotton, these are minor marks from storage and use, fortunately there are no rips or tears with the covers are decent overall. A very generous 2 seater, incredibly comfortable to sink into and relax, the dimensions are.
