Posting for under a month1960s Sofa and Armchair
Epping, Essex
£450
Description
Bought in 1969 this once elegant sofa and armchair require significant TLC.
What was once the classic 3-piece suite is now down to two pieces. Not sure what happened with the other armchair.
Sofa approx 75" long by 36" deep (1.92 meters by 0.91 meters)
Chair approx 36" by 36" (0.91 by 0.91)
Seem to recall my parents saying the wood is teak but l cannot confirm that.
Wood and steel frame. Solid. Cannot find a manufacturers label.
Seat cushions and backrest have zippered covers.
Originally covered in a goldish material it underwent a complete refurbishment 30+ years ago that included new foam, new covers in a green velour and new webbing. All, alas, now degraded.
Wood is in decent condition with a few dings here and there. Adds even more character.
Several years ago l replaced the original webbing with lengths of strapping to restore some comfort. Worked quite well so it is usable as is. In fact l use it daily. Even typing this as l sit on the armchair.
Excellent opportunity to acquire solidly built, classic furniture awaiting your imagination, sweat equity or a decent credit line, to return it into a statement piece.
No idea what it is worth. Make an offer! l can only say no. Or yes!
You shall have to make arrangements to move, but l can help get it out of the house.
