Launceston, Cornwall
£135
Description
This is an original mid century modern piece from the 1960s - British made in the West country by Avalon furniture Yatton.
Established under another name previously the company underwent a transformation in the 1960s when it became Avalon. This shift coincided with the changing tastes of the 1950s and 1960s, which brought a thirst for contemporary style. Avalon’s designs embraced minimalism and new materials. Their furniture catered to the mid-century modern aesthetic, capturing the spirit of an era marked by innovation and elegance.
A strong Danish influence
The waterfall drawers are a pretty unique design and a striking attractive feature, visually very clean lines. Over the years the sun has bleached the colour somewhat and a gentle rub down and stain or oil may well bring it back to it's best. I have seen the top drawer laminated in white as well which may have been a factory option. This example has a dark stained top and sides.
It would benefit from some upcycling or someone with some preferred colour scheme to add some panache, it's 100% original currently. I have added some wax the wooden runners as they were a little stiff.
The height is 103cm / 40.5"
Depth is 46cm / 18"
Width 85cm / 33.5"
I live between Bude and Launceston PL15 8UB. I can only accept cash on collection please. No electronic payments.
