Coffee table from John Lewis, converts to dining, card, games or display table etc
Louth, Lincolnshire
£150
Description
This is an extremely versatile coffee table that, at the flick of a hidden lever, automatically converts to a dining table, card table, games table, display table etc., and vice versa! It came from John Lewis about 37 years ago and is now a rare, unusual item.
The table is 100cm in diameter, 55cm high in the low position and 75cm high in the raised position. The original gas strut used to raise the table top has been replaced and operates very firmly. The table is lowered by pushing down firmly on the centre of the table top and using the lever to lock it back in position. It can also be locked at any height between its low and high positions.
Condition is very good, if not excellent for its age. It has a warm mahogany finish and the table top has a highly polished, lacquered surface that has faded over time. As should be expected, this has attracted very fine surface scratches which generally, can only be seen by bending down at an angle to the light, plus a tiny chip at one edge - see pictures 4 and 5. The top could easily be restored but we think it looks stunning as it is in its naturally aged condition. This is a reluctant sale but we are unable to find a place for it in our new home.
Collection in person or by the buyer's courier within 7 days of purchase, unless otherwise agreed in advance.
