Great condition inside and out with only 61678 genuine miles, registered as a historic vehicle, tax and MOT exempt. It had an extensive sympathetic restoration in 2000 retaining the physical signs of its working life and featured in a 4 page spread with “Land Rover World” magazine which I can send to any potential buyers, has also appeared in “Legend” Land Rover Magazine.

This is a very rare model, Land Rover built 200,000 series 1 Land Rovers but only made a total of 449 diesels, this was the 43rd off the production line. In 1957 there were 297 diesel units built and only 153 of these were 109s and in 1958 there were 152 diesel units built, the majority were left hand drive for export.
In 2001 the Land Rover Series 1 Club knew of only eight 109 diesels still surviving world wide. Also has a PTO installed from its former occupation as a fire engine where it spent the majority of its early years parked in side with little use.

It has just had the following mechanical overhaul.

Remove oil filler engine breather, wash out with petrol and refit
Remove rocker cover engine breather, wash out with petrol and refit
Remove seized clutch pedal height adjuster, release, clean and refit
Remove seized clutch adjuster, release, clean and refit
Fit new brass engine block drain tap
Fit new oil pressure switch
Fit 2 new copper washers to cylinder head oil feed pipe banjo
Fit battery cut off switch at battery
Top up all fluids engine, gearbox, transfer box, steering box, rear differential, front differential.
Fit new engine & gearbox mounts
Fit new, 4 front & 2 rear brake cylinders
Remove, disassemble & rebuild brake adjusters
Replace brake fluid and bleed brakes
Fit new front brake hoses
Fit new front brake shoes
Fit new manifold and gasket
Repair front downpipe
Fit new exhaust hanger
Remove and refit recored radiator
Fit new radiator top hose
Remove and replace damaged dash wiring
Renew wiring connections headlights & indictors
Fit new indicator bulb
Fit new dash board toggle switch
Clean air filter and replace oil
Fit new battery retaining strap
Clean chassis & under seal
Fit dash battery cut off switch and cables
Fit new driver side sliding window
