Advice for Road Runners: The Altra Men's Torin 7 in the Gray/Red colourway features more cushioning and a more comfortable upper than the previous edition.

Underfoot Feel
The midsole of the Altra Men's Torin 7 continues to feature Altra EGO MAX foam. However, the midsole is 2 mm thicker than the previous version. This means the latest edition feels softer and more cushioned than the last model.

As the midsole of the Altra Torin 7 is 30 mm thick at every point, your heel and forefoot sit at an equal distance from the ground. This Balanced Cushioning helps lower the impact of landing.

Upper Fit
Most of the changes to the Torin 7 have been made in the upper. It now features:

A redesigned tongue for a plusher feel;
An updated engineered mesh that improves breathability; and
An evolved molded heel collar that locks your ankle in more effectively.
The Altra Torin 7 continues to be made with a Standard FootShape Fit. While this is not as wide as the Original FootShape Fit featured in the Via Olympus, it feels very spacious. If you like space for your toes to splay, the toe box will feel comfortable.

Ideal Run Type
As the Altra Men's Torin 7 features a thick midsole of plush foam, we recommend using them for slower to steady paced runs. This also means they'll work well for longer distance runs. In our opinion, the Torin 7 are great daily mileage running shoes.

Given the spacious toe box design, the Torin 7 works well for runners who have broad feet. Particularly those whose feet swell over the course of a run.

Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone's feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.

Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).

This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
