Description

1994 Mazda MX-5 MX5 MK1
NA 1.6 ( UK Spec ) Mark 1
( True UK British Example )
Restored SHOW CAR
( 31 Year Old )
18 year Ownership.

One Of A Kind Opportunity

( NOT Import - Eunos or Miata ) Only 87,500 Miles on the clock.

Fully RESTORED to the Highest Standard ( Show Car / Trailer Queen ) A preserved invesment for the future - If you decided to store it away and let its value go up. This would easily sit proud in any Showroom or Private Car Collection ( Yes it is that Good ! ) a Classic in every sense of the word. Real proper examples like this are seriously RARE. UK spec Mk1's are like gold dust now, Difficult to find & a fantastic investment.

1994 Mazda MX-5 MK1 1.6 in Stunning 'Mazda Soul Red' ( The Wine Red - Crystal ) that launched the newest MK4 MX5. This color choice is significant because the color's launch year was the same as this cars Full Bodywork & Chassis Restoration & Respray. I don't think many MK1 cars will exist in this color anywhere in the world.

The car comes with 'Full Restoration' Photo & Video albums to go with its vast History: Detailing its Entire Restoration from every panel replacement to every bit of welding & metal fabrication to its entire underside & chassis, even its Inner Tub has been addressed. From its complete strip down to Prime & Paint, I don't think any other MX5 or classic car for sale will have this amount of work done to it ( Not to mention the Absolute Photographic detailed PROOF to back it all up ) A USB Key & CD will also be included containing photos of every Car Show, Owners Club Run & Event the car had taken part in, as well as its General Maintanence and History since the day I bought it over 18 years ago.

Black Carpeted interior with Red & Black 'Mint' Leather Seats ( MX5 MK2 Leather 'Porsche Style' Tombstone Seats ) A Higher Spec than a typical 1994 car, it comes with: Electric Windows & Aerial, Power Steering, ABS and a few Tasteful Cosmetic choices to make this example unique: its Rare Wine Red Tonneau Cover for the Soft Top Roof, Polished Steel Fuel Filler Door, Matching color coded Hardtop, Piano Black Centre Console, Moss 'Vintage' Wood & Polished Steel Steering Wheel and Gear Stick, Brushed Bullet Steel Racing Mirrors, 17" Boss 'Gunmetal Grey' Alloys & Smoked Lights ( All of these small cosmetic touches could easily be 'Reversed' if you wanted to put the car back to a 100% Factory Box Standard MK1 ) if you are an MX5 'Standard' purist and wanting an almost factory fresh example, then this is your chance.

Yes, you will always find a few rough to average examples of this car that will need a lot of work, with most of them hiding 'Serious Rot' under a 'Dressed Up' polished surface ( The Mazda MX5 Mk1 & Mk2's Only Real Downfall ) THIS CAR However IS ON ANOTHER LEVEL, Complete piece of mind knowing THE BODYWORK Top to Bottom is 100% from Roof to Chassis, There is no need to worry with this one as it is 100% Right & Solid ( with Full PROOF ! ) for decades to come.

The car has undergone a light mechanical re-commission after being stored unused for a few years ( In a Climate Controlled Classic Car Storage Warehouse Facility, Since its Full Bodywork Restoration )

You are looking at an IMPOSSIBLE Opportunity that might never come up again: A MK1 MX5 that has physically NOT touched a single salty, gritty UK Road since its Full Restoration ! So you are getting the car straight out the paint shop ( Not a single stone chip or blemish to be found anywhere on the cars Outstanding Paint Job ) This might even be worth exporting to a more sunny climate.

The car received a New Timing Belt and Water Pump during its Restoration and recently: New Battery, All round brake overhaul, New Tyres, Oil / Fluids & Alloy Wheel Refurb to add the finishing touches to an already absolutely spectacular and very special car.

Being sold for what it is - A Trailer Queen / A stored away 'Preserved Example' Currently on SORN, with that said there is 'Some Movement' room on the price to the right person and I am open to a deal

If I need to put an MOT on the car for the sale - then there is less chance of any price movement ( The Car trully speaks for itself in Person )

This car was restored by the well established 'Glasgow based' Car Restorer, Metal Fabricator & Paint Specialist 'Mr. Joe McEwan' who sadly retired in recent times. Joe was renowned and very well known in the classic car community, having restored many legends including E Type Jaguars, Porsches, Triumphs, TVR's, MGB's, Classic Ford's and American Chevys as well as Customs and Hot Rods ( A back catalogue of work that spans decades ) A great deal of his work featured in classic car magazines and publications as well as being showcased at Auto Shows and Events. His car Restoration business had been going since the 1970's and my MX5 was one of the very last cars he finished before retirement ( Thanks Joe for all the hard work and expertise in restoring my beloved Mazda ) wishing you a happy and well deserved retirement.

As previously stated I have owned the car for 18 years and honestly never imagined or even considered selling it. The real tragic and sad part is that I have never driven it properly or enjoyed it again on the open country roads since its restoration ( Many happy years prior ) Over the past year I have went back & forth regarding my decision to SELL or NOT and I know emotions will be high if it goes. I just hope it's next owner cherishes the car as much as I have. It deserves to go to a Real Enthusiast who will continue to look after it. I know 100% if I put it back on the road and drive it again - I will decide to keep it, so I am at a cross roads with it. I feel the time has come to allow someone else to enjoy it but if it dosen't sell I will be more than happy to keep it and start enjoying it again. If that happens then this Golden, Once in Life Time Opportunity of a Mint Restored MK1 MX5 is Gone. After it touches the road again, it will no longer be what it currently is just now.

Mechanically the Engine is a true untouched standard example, it has never been modified or messed around with ( NO Turbos, Superchargers or forced modifications of any kind ) Bulletproof 1.6 Twin Cam 'Non Interference' Engine that made the MX5 Mk1 the Legend that it became and still is. Pure raw 'Back To Basics' 5 Speed 'Drivers' car, going back to the Glory Days of the 1960s and 1970s Roadsters with its precise gear changes that shift like a rifle bolt. Famously inspired by the Lotus Elan S1. The beauty of this being a 1994 car is that it features the 'Long Crank' engine. 1989 to 1993 cars 'Suffered' from a 'Short Crank' design that wore away faster over a shorter period of time. Late 1993 / Early 1994 Onwards cars featured the new improved 'Long Crank' Design which eliminated the earlier design flaw, which makes this specific year and engine ( The Sweet Spot ) the far better choice but at the same time staying within the period of a true original early production MK1 MX5.

If you have been looking for a long time for ( The One ! ) A sound, straight, true original Mazda MX5 MK1 ( with ZERO Rust ) with all the history and proof needed. This is one of those cars that you will regret not seeing in person or simply buying outright. I encourage anyone interested in this, to go and see other cars on offer before coming to see this one because I have absolute full confidence that no others will even come close to measuring up to this cars standard and finish on all levels.

HISTORY TRIVIA: This car was used as part of an Advertising / Promotional Campaign for the Glasgow Stage of the ModBall Rally in 2011. All photos from the location photoshoot are also included with the cars history.
