Description

Maintenance Technician

Location: Rochford (Must be able to drive due to site location)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 4:00pm

Shifts: 8 hours per day

Breaks: 2 x 30-minute breaks

Pay Rate:

£16.30 per hour (basic)

£24.45 per hour (overtime, x1.5)

Job Purpose

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to carry out maintenance and repair work on port-based equipment, including terminal tractors and trailers. The role is focused on ensuring all machinery is safe, fully functional, and compliant with health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on terminal tractors and trailers

Carry out welding and fabrication tasks as required

Fit, replace, and maintain wheels, tyres, and associated components

Manage spare parts stock, including ordering and inventory control

Maintain clean, organised, and safe working environments

Adhere strictly to all health and safety procedures

Conduct routine inspections to identify faults and prevent breakdowns

Accurately complete maintenance records and documentation

Support general maintenance duties across the site as required

Skills & Experience Required

Proven experience in vehicle or plant maintenance (ideally within an industrial setting)

Strong welding and fabrication skills

Good mechanical knowledge of trailers, tractors, or heavy vehicles

Experience with stock control or inventory systems

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Requirements

Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety

Good problem-solving ability

Flexible approach to working hours when required

Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential due to location)

Desirable

Relevant mechanical or engineering qualifications

Experience in logistics, manufacturing, or heavy industry environments

Health & Safety

Comply with all health and safety policies at all times

Wear appropriate PPE when required

Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly
