Are you looking to grow your technical career in food manufacturing? Our client is looking for a proactive and detail oriented Technical Assistant to support their Technical Manager in maintaining high standards across their operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with QA or technical experience to build expertise in food safety, compliance, and auditing within a dynamic and supportive team.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Technical Manager, your role will be key in ensuring company policies and procedures meet BRC standards, customer requirements, and UK legislation across our multi-site operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and update technical data, records, and compliance documents.
Provide technical support to key customers and handle technical-related complaints.
Coordinate microbiological and environmental sampling, including lab submissions and results tracking.
Lead traceability exercises including provenance, mass balance, withdrawals, and recalls.
Oversee internal audits (FSI/GMP, hygiene, personal cleanliness) and support audit scheduling.
Manage the non-conformance system, ensuring timely resolution.
Conduct routine equipment calibrations (temperature, weight) in line with schedules.
Support external audits and customer visits.
Check operational paperwork for compliance and accuracy.
Maintain the allergen matrix and contribute to allergen risk management.
Validate cleaning processes using hygiene and allergen swabbing.
About You:
Organised, methodical and a strong team player.
Experience in a technical or QA role within the food industry, ideally to BRC or SALSA standards.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
High attention to detail and confident using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Able to work independently, prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressure.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
Level 3 HACCP certification.
Food Safety qualification.
Internal Auditor qualification.
Working knowledge of TACCP/Food Defence principles.
Understanding of food labelling legislation and risk assessments.
