Sheet Metal Supervisor required for a respected provider of precision sheet metal, welding, and fabrication services based in Ipswich. We are seeking a hands–on, experienced Engineer/Supervisor to oversee a team of skilled fabricators and welders. The successful candidate will combine strong technical skills with leadership ability, ensuring production targets and quality standards are met while maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.

Sheet Metal Supervisor Job Overview

Supervise and coordinate the work of a team of 5 shop–floor employees (welders, press brake operators, punch operators, etc.)Interpret and work from engineering drawings to guide production and ensure accuracyProvide hands–on support with welding, fabrication, and related tasks when requiredReview job requirements and compile accurate, competitive quotationsEnsure quality control standards are met across all projectsMonitor and manage workflow to meet tight deadlinesTroubleshoot technical issues and provide practical solutionsCommunicate effectively with team members and managementPromote a safe, productive, and collaborative working environment

Sheet Metal Supervisor Job Requirements

Strong background in sheet metal work, welding, and fabricationProven supervisory or team leadership experienceExcellent understanding of engineering drawings and specificationsCapable of producing quotations based on material, time, and labor assessmentsHands–on approach with a willingness to support production activities when neededEffective problem–solving and decision–making skillsHigh level of communication and organizational skillsAbility to work under pressure and adapt to shifting prioritiesSelf–motivated, dependable, and committed to continuous improvement

Sheet Metal Supervisor Salary & Benefits

Salary: 35,000 per annum (negotiable depending on experience and skills)Holiday: 188 hours annual leave plus all bank holidaysPension: Company pension schemeHealth Insurance: Private health cover available after 3 years of service
