Junior Gardener / Trainee Grounds Person

Location: Near Stow-on-the-Wold

Salary: £29,000–£30,000 per annum

Working Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (with flexibility to start earlier in summer months, e.g., 7:00/7:30 am – 4:00/4:30 pm), 1-hour lunch break

Employment Type: Full-Time (4 or 5 days per week considered)

A motivated and physically capable Junior Gardener / Trainee Grounds Person is sought to join a friendly and supportive estate team near Stow-on-the-Wold. This is an excellent opportunity for someone starting out in horticulture or grounds.

Working alongside two experienced team members and reporting directly to the Estate Manager, the successful candidate will receive training and have the opportunity to develop independence and responsibility over time.

This is primarily an amenity-style gardening and grounds role involving a wide range of outdoor maintenance tasks across a beautiful and varied 10-acre estate.

Key Responsibilities

• General garden and grounds maintenance: hedge cutting, strimming, pedestrian and ride-on mowing, patio and gravel upkeep, leaf clearance, and topiary clipping

• Tree care: pruning of fruit trees and light pruning across the estate

• Weekly swimming pool checks and basic maintenance

• Maintenance of a Japanese garden

• Clearing lower-level building gutters (high-level gutters handled by contractors)

• Compost turning using an Avant telehandler (training and certification provided)
