Role: Estate Handyman

Location: Guildford, Surrey

Salary: £35,000 circa

Work Type: 40 hours per week

Requirement: Must be able to drive

Overview

We are seeking a hands-on, practical Estate Handyman to support the day-to-day upkeep and smooth running of a private rural estate. Working closely with the Estate Manager and alongside the wider team, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining high presentation standards across the grounds, buildings, and facilities. This is a varied, self-directed role requiring initiative, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving maintenance needs while ensuring the estate remains safe, functional, and well presented at all times.

Role & Responsibilities

Conduct daily walkarounds of the estate to identify, prioritise, and address maintenance tasks.
Carry out general repairs and routine upkeep across buildings, grounds, and external areas.
Support planned preventative maintenance and respond promptly to reactive issues.
Perform basic carpentry, plumbing, and minor electrical tasks where appropriate.
Maintain external areas including patios, decking, fencing, gates, and pathways.
Undertake cleaning and upkeep of estate infrastructure, including guttering and external surfaces.
Assist with moving furniture, deliveries, and general logistics across the estate.
Liaise with external contractors and supervise works when required, ensuring quality standards are met.

Candidate Requirements

Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, or estates role (private estate or hospitality environment desirable).
Strong practical skills across general maintenance, repair, and basic trades.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritise tasks.
High attention to detail with a pride in maintaining presentation standards.
Full UK driving licence and local residency to the estate location.
Reliable, proactive, and comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions.
