Description
I am an RIBA Chartered Architect, specialising in residential extensions, conversions, and alterations. I have built up a wealth of experience in this area through a variety of projects across the UK. I have worked in sensitive locations such the Peak District and Dartmoor National Parks, as well as various urban Conservation Areas, where I was able to work constructively with planning departments to successfully gain approval.
Before establishing my own practice I worked for a number of years at a large commercial firm in Liverpool. Here I gained experience working on large-scale projects such as hotels, student accommodation, sporting facilities, and new-build housing. This gave me an ability to think strategically, and make the most of the many different constraints and opportunities that exist on a design project.
MCCA is a practice with a thorough engagement in the design process, and a grasp of the many different forces that must come together to realise a building.
I work closely with clients to realise their design ambitions. On a typical project I will:
• produce a range of different options to test the project’s feasibility and ensure all potential solutions have been thoroughly thought through;
• visualise the design using 3D modelling and imaging software to bring the project to life and provide a sense of how the spaces will feel;
• assist with guiding the project through the various statutory processes, whether that be planning, permitted development, or building regulations;
• provide information for obtaining quotes from builders/ contractors
• work collaboratively with builders and tradespeople through the construction phase to ensure quality and vision is retained
