We advertised for someone to bring down a load bearing wall and several other jobs, e.g. laying new flooring, painting and building a media wall. We had great difficulty in getting other companies to commit, whereas Chris and Scott were responsive, communicative and very well organised from the start. They went out of their way to listen to what we wanted done and ensured that our wishes were carried out to a very high standard. They worked extremely hard, even working into the evenings and at weekends to ensure that the project stayed on schedule. As the project went on, we made a few requests for minor changes to original plan and nothing was too much trouble for them. We would highly recommend these guys; we had a great experience with them!

Embarking on a huge home renovation was always going to be daunting especially with my lack of knowledge and inexperience in this field, I was recommended Ashwood Trade Group through a family friend and put my utmost faith in them from the first meeting we had at the house. They were professional, reliable, personable and I was never left a day with any questions unanswered. I was treated with promise and rapport through the whole project. They renovated an entire extension for us, removed rooms and built new ones, installing a beautiful kitchen. They are a great group of guys. Deadlines were met, expectations were exceeded and even through some structural set back’s, the guys worked double the time to ensure this was complete for my family within the initial time promised. The quality of work, cleanliness at the end of each day, care and drive to ensure we were always at the forefront of what they were doing was absolutely second to none. I couldn’t be more thankful! Ashwood Trade group operates and presents as a small outfit. We knew we were taking a bit of a risk with that going in but we were given a lot of assurances and were impressed with the pitch. Unfortunately, I’ve had my patience tested time and time again with Ashwood Trade Group, specifically Scott. He has burned through an unbelievable amount of good will and become infamous amongst my neighbours, family, and friends. Had I written this review 4 weeks into the job, I would have given 5 stars without a second thought. The focus was always on our satisfaction right up until they had most of our money and took on other jobs. For reference, I put down my deposit for a garden office at the end of January, before anything else I was told it “would be up and ready in 6 weeks, likely less”, and I moved into it at the end of April. During that time I’ve had a friend start a very similar project a month after me and finish a month before me. The work started quickly but it’s only after the fact it’s all ‘done’ that I realise that a lot of promises were just false. - When he first arrived, Scott saw that our fence panels were broken and he said he’d fix them. That didn’t happen. I ended up doing it. - Scott mentioned that he’d put down some grass seed as our garden was being torn up during the building process. That didn’t happen, I ended up doing it. - Scott said he would get us some stones/gravel to go round the office for decoration/drainage. That didn’t happen, I ended up buying them and doing it. - I’ve had to buy a replacement washing pole as my previous one was snapped under wood being piled on top of it. - I got called a couple of times, asking to pay more money. I had to send bank screenshots as proof that I’d already paid what was agreed and owed. Looking back, I’m not convinced this was just a mistake and more of an attempt to get more money from me. - When the electrician eventually arrived, he punched big holes in the wall to fit sockets and when I asked what he was going to do to fix them. He told me “that’s the next persons problem”. The next person being me. I've since had another electrician come out to tell me he's done an awful job of the wiring too. - Exterior lights were fitted after we paid extra for them, they’re still missing bulbs - Scott told me that he would do the exterior painting for ‘free’ if I paid for the paint. I paid a premium for the paint but I didn’t mind as they were still doing the labour. I ended up painting the fourth wall myself because they left it unfinished for weeks. - I paid another portion of cash for laminate floors to be fitted. Again, paying a premium for the labour and someone to sort it for me so I didn’t have to. The floors were fitted 3 and a half weeks after I paid, and only after they were fitted have I found out that they’re thinner and cheaper than the ones that were described to me on the phone. I’ve paid out of my own pocket for snacks for the guys, I’ve paid straight after I’ve been asked to every time. In return I get ignored phone calls and replies to texts a week later. I don’t even mind the excuse of “we’re busy with other jobs” but on more than one occasion I was told they would show up on a specific day only to not and leave me waiting. I will note that communication and work done was great until I had paid about 90% of the job, then everything fell off a cliff for months. Even now when it’s done, I still have a broken interior light, I’m touching up unpainted spots, and I’m left cleaning up paint footsteps that have been left from someone walking through paint on the floor. I can only conclude that Ashwood/Scott will just tell you whatever you want to hear to get your money. False promise after false promise has left me not believing a word that comes out of his mouth. The description says “Ashwood Trade Group ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards” and from my experience, that just isn’t true. I could maybe forgive a couple of them as miscommunications and mistakes but time and time again I’ve been left disappointed rather than pleasantly surprised.
