There's a bit of a story behind this Monkey but first I should explain what we do. We have our own team in Japan who select, check and prepare all our bikes. They do the mechanical work and the export paperwork before loading them into containers. We bring in about 4 or 5 containers of bikes a year.

About three years ago we imported this 1974 Honda Monkey and then sold it. A couple of years later we heard that the original UK owner had sold it on and that the new owner had been told that it wasn't a 1974 model but a 1976. In addition, he was concerned that the frame number looked like it had been scraped.

We had some conversations with him and it was agreed that we would take it back in in exchange for one of our other bikes. After that it kind of dropped off our radar as we were busy with other stock. We have now checked and all our research both here and in Japan confirms that it is indeed a 1974 model. That leaves the question of the frame number. We believe it to be genuine and think the damage showing is just something that was done to make it easier to read, perhaps after the headstock had had some paint.

So, we are now advertising it again but we wanted any prospective buyers to be aware of the back story. (We haven't posted the frame number here but would be happy to send a photo to any interested parties.)

Overall the body condition is pretty good - please see the photos and the video. We will make sure it runs and all the electrics work before it leaves us. We have priced it at £3,600 as that is what it owes us but we will consider offers.
