Description
A rare mid-20th-century glazed stoneware chemical jug produced by Imperial Chemical Industries (I.C.I.) General Chemicals Ltd., marked from the Pilkington-Sullivan Works in Widnes, England. These jugs were used for the transport and storage of industrial chemicals, often acids or alkaline solutions, and are now prized by collectors of vintage industrial items or used as unique decor pieces.
Features:
• Glazed two-tone stoneware (beige body with brown shoulder)
• Black printed text: “I.C.I. (General Chemicals) Ltd. Pilkington-Sullivan Works, Widnes”
• Fitted with original ceramic stopper
Condition:
• Very good vintage condition with no visible cracks
• Some minor wear and age-related marks near the base (see photos)
• Stopper intact and fits snugly
