Description
Vintage Gwenda Made in Britain Powder Compact featuring a lady in traditional Welsh costume. The top is a picture with a celluloid covered lid which has become detached. The picture itself is slightly damaged in parts (see photos) and two small pieces of the picture have become detached (see photo showing bottom part of the compact) and are now attached to the celluloid cover. The last photo shows the celluloid photo over the compact. Some scratches here and there due to use and age and some patina/corrosion. Interior and exterior clasps work well. The thumb catch is the typical Gwenda scalloped shape. The hinge is signed Gwenda British Made. The original lid protector and sifter are present as well as powder remnants. The mirror gives an accurate and good reflection. Measures approximately 8.5cm from hinge to thumb catch. Comes with a protective pouch. The back is a gold tone design of concentric circles. Believed to date from 1950s or possibly even earlier as the company went into liquidation in 1961. Happy to post if buyer covers P&P costs and has PayPal.
