Description
Beautiful case or chest with 2 drawers
Great rich colour with fine figuring and in good order throughout
Decorated with 8 shaped brass mounts. Brass shield with initials.
Brass lock mounted with drop handle — no key.
Upper drawer reveals 2 compartments.
Bottom drawer compartment for cigars. Circular compartment may be for tobacco. Or may have had a holder for cigarettes.
The whole standing upon a plinth base.
The chest does not smell of tobacco as it was used as a handkerchief and scent bottle/talc store and sometimes jewellery.
This chest is a most attractive piece of table or desk furniture.
