Description
This is a very curious- looking button. It feels like wood and has a copper engraving which
seems to depict St. Just Martyr.( there are
faint markings around the top) It is the size of a
£2 coin. I found it whilst rummaging thro’ my box of vintage buttons.Perhaps it is from a religious
garment. ( He was venerated as a saint by the
Anglican, Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox Churches ) or from St Just in Cornwall
where copper was mined. If only it could talk!
