'THE INFANT LOUNGER': 18th CENTURY PORTRAIT OF AN UNKNOWN CHILD

Description
This charming portrait was engraved by Francesco Bartolozzi - a prolific engraver with more than 2,000 works to his name - and (if I have understood the techniques involved!) subsequently coloured by Sylvester Harding.
Harding (1745-1809) was a miniaturist and engraver, born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. As a young boy he was sent to London to be apprenticed to a hairdresser but at age 14 he ran away and spent several years in a company of strolling players before embarking on a successful career as a miniature painter in 1775. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1777 to1787.
The portrait (I was not, unfortunately, able to ascertain the child's name) appears to be an original.
