Description
Sony portable cassette recorder model TC-144.
Dating from around 1974
Part of my own collection of vintage electronics that needs to go as I'm running out of space.
This was a high class machine with a build quality typical of all Sony products of this era, made in Japan so long before Sony farmed their manufacturing out to China.
It is in very nice clean condition and all working with very good sound quality and volume levels. All drive belts were replaced last year so ensuring good stable tape speed. The deck was also thoroughly cleaned and lubricated.
Two things to note are that at some point in its life one of the speakers has been too close to a heat source and so there is a slightly melted/ distorted area down the side of the speaker, this is shown in two of the pictures. The same speaker has an area of damaged plastic on the top corner just above the Sony badge, again, shown in the pictures.
