SENIOR MICROBIOLOGIST (MEDICAL DEVICES/PHARMACEUTICALS)

ONSITE / LIVINGSTON – EXCELLENT BASE SALARY PLUS EXTENSIVE BENS

Based in Livingston, Grw Talent's client is part of a well known global medical devices manufacturer. From their high–volume manufacturing site they make controlled eye health care medical devices and products for customers across the world. Currently employing over 100 people in Scotland, the business continues to grow. Further potential expansion is being planned into new geographies including North America. As part of this expansion plan then now need to make the key hire of a Senior Microbiologist.

This is a site based role, supporting a busy manufacturing site, standard hours are 37.5 per week, with flexible start/stop times and any excess weekly hours carried over to be taken in lieu.

Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the Senior Microbiologist will take sight wide responsibility for all current and future microbiology projects, actions, learning and development. As the site continues to expand and production ramps, you will be both strategically involved and aligned to the site Leadership's vision and direction and ensure the execution of all relevant microbiology capabilities. Key responsibilities will include:

Provide independent in–house and on–site expertise in Microbiology Perform QC Microbiology testing Optimized current systems, databases, logs and support the generation of Microbiology trend data Ensure current methods / equipment are aligned with pharmacopoeia standard Support site contamination control improvement programme as well as compliance to regulatory standards such as ISO 11737, 11408 and 17025 Support in the development of the Microbiology staff.

Educated to degree calibre in Biology, Microbiology or similar, you are a proven Microbiologist already at or around Senior/Principal/Staff Microbiologist level. We need candidates ideally from a volume production environment (pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biotechnology products preferred) with experience of environmental monitoring and sterility testing. You have a demonstrated ability to engage and motivate others to support a quality culture and ideally experience of EU and cGMP requirements of the manufacture and testing of medical device products in a commercial environment. Supporting relevant FDA, ISO or MHRA quality audits from a microbiology perspective would be a distinct advantage.
