Description

We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Lettings Officer to join our Housing team. You will play a vital role in delivering an efficient and fair housing allocations and lettings service, ensuring that residents are supported into safe, sustainable homes.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in housing or lettings who is passionate about supporting local communities and making a difference in people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the allocation and letting of council and housing association properties in line with the Council’s policies and statutory obligations.

Process housing applications, assess eligibility, and maintain accurate records.

Work with applicants to provide advice on housing options, affordability, and tenancy sustainment.

Liaise with internal teams, housing associations, and external partners to ensure efficient property turnaround and minimise voids.

Carry out tenancy sign-ups, ensuring legal compliance and that tenants understand their rights and responsibilities.

Support vulnerable applicants by making referrals to appropriate services where necessary.

Contribute to service improvements by identifying and recommending process changes.About You

Experience in housing lettings, allocations, or tenancy management within social housing or a local authority setting.

Knowledge of housing legislation, allocations policies, and choice-based lettings systems.

Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work empathetically with vulnerable residents.

Organised and detail-oriented, able to manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines.

Confident in using IT systems, databases, and Microsoft Office.
