Location: Waterlooville
Salary Scale: GBP13.80 to GBP15 per hour
Start: ASAP /September 2025
GSL Education are looking for a dedicated and passionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join a special school in Waterlooville. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our pupils with special and complex needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
The school based in Waterlooville is dedicated to providing the highest quality learning experience for children with special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other additional needs. The focus is on finding the most effective ways to support, inspire, and motivate pupils to re–engage with their education and prepare for the next stage of learning. Responsibilities of a Behaviour Support Assistant:
Provide 1:1 support for pupils with challenging behaviour, Autism, SEMH and mental health needsHelp promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and a safe learning spaceWork closely with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to provide consistent, tailored support Working with children in the classroom settingManaging challenging behaviourWorking with students one–to–one and small groups Requirements for Behaviour Support Assistant:
Has experience working with young people, this could be as a Sports Coach, Dance Leader, Scout Leader or something similar (preferred, not essential).Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism or social and emotional needs (preferred, not essential).Experience working with SEN (in school, care, or voluntary settings) preferred, not essentialCan engage children in and out of the classroom Feels confident managing challenging behaviour Knowledge of and experience with behaviour management strategies.Commitment to ongoing professional development in SEN practices and strategies. Have the right to work in the UK. Have an up–to–date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years. Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
