Noodle is a delightful little Roborovski hamster with a big personality. Around 9 months old, he’s been with us for a couple of months now—and we’re genuinely surprised this wee guy hasn’t yet found his forever home. His foster mum and dad are smitten, and we know someone out there will be too.

📖 Noodle's Story

Arrival Date: Mid-July

Previous Owner: Surrendered by a family who were advised he’d be the perfect pet for a young child.

Condition on Arrival: He was in a small, unsuitable cage that had been recommended by a pet shop. While the family tried their best and asked all the right questions, they quickly realised that Robos—though adorable—aren’t always ideal for hands-on interaction as a child's pet. Noodle spent much of his early life largely left to his own devices. We were glad to step in and support both the family and Noodle by welcoming him into rescue.

👑 Personality & Behaviour

Temperament: Independent, comical, and surprisingly attentive.

Activity Level: High! Noodle is a blur of motion—he runs (and runs and runs) on his wheel, dives into his sand bath digs in his coco soil and zips through his tunnels like a tiny explorer.

Social Preferences: He’s not one for cuddles, but he’s a joy to watch and has become quite responsive to voices—especially when spoken to in a silly hamster voice.

Trust Building: While he’s happiest doing his own thing, Noodle has never shown aggression. He’s pretty easy to handle once you catch him, and tunnel or jug transfers are best for keeping things stress-free.

Handling Style: Tunnel or jug transfers preferred. When held, he’s calm and bite-free—just very, very fast!

🏠 Housing Requirements

Cage Type: A spacious setup that meets minimum welfare standards of 100cm x 50cm x 50cm, with room to zoom and burrow—barred or barless is fine, as long as it’s safe and enriched.

Enrichment Needs:

- Deep bedding for digging and burrowing

- A appropriately sized wheel for marathon runs

- Sand bath for grooming and play

- Plenty of hides and tunnels to keep him busy

Food Motivation: Strong—he’s a fan of his meals and loves a good treat.

Favourite Treats: A bit of chicken, a piece of walnut, and whimsies (which he somehow hauls off to his burrow like a tiny champion).

Preferred Reward: Enrichment and independence—he thrives with space to explore and goodies to stash.
