Description
This is a Gibson Explorer shaped guitar that was restored, a very rare piece.
This guitar has a mahogany body and neck with an ebony fret board and sounds like a monster.
Work was conducted with a Luthier to finish the restoration and do a proper setup.
The following has been done to this guitar:
- Re-fretted with Fender Medium Jumbo frets
- Sanded down & renewed the fretboard
- Replaced the tuning heads with locking tuners
- Replaced the bridge, saddle and nut
- Replaced all electronics with a pair of active EMG 57/66 Active Humbuckers
- Replaced the scratch plate with a custom built piece by Tiny Tone, from Manchester
I've left the scuffs and wear on the body and cleaned up the finish so it's still an authentic 80s guitar, but the tone is incredible!
I have been unable to find anything out about Simpson Guitars, I think they disappeared before the internet!
