Fender Japan ‘75 Reissue Jazz Bass w/ upgrades

Description

This is Fender ‘Crafted in Japan’ ‘75 reissue jazz bass from the early 2000s.
It was my only bass for nearly 20 years and it has served me very well.
A number of years ago I installed a John East J-Tone active preamp which makes it far more versatile than a standard jazz bass.
The knobs are now stacked pickup blend/master vol, stacked bass and treble cut and boost, and push-pull tone knob (pulling it bypasses the bass & treble active circuitry leaving you with the original passive circuit).

It also has had other upgrades/modifications including a Hipshot badass style bridge, a Marcus Miller style, metal neck pickup cover and a custom-made black 3-ply pickguard. You can vary the cosmetic of this bass very easily depending on what vibe you’re going for!
The back of the neck was originally a slightly sticky high-gloss so it has been carefully sanded down to a much faster satin feel.
This model features the ‘micro-tilt’ neck adjustment on the neckplate which is very useful for getting a great action.

The original pre-amp and bridge are included (and can be reinstalled very easily without any modification whatsoever), as are optional steel saddles for the Hipshot bridge (allegedly giving a brighter tone), a selection of different capacitors for the tone knob and white pickup covers (which look particularly cool for that Joe Dart look without any pickguard).
The preamp and Hipshot bridge have been carefully sanded to a brushed look as their shiny new chromeness looked out of place on a guitar that is 20yrs old.

It comes in a slightly battered but fully functional brown tolex Rockcase made by Warwick (keys included).

Only reason I am selling it is that I now own a few basses to serve different functions and, as a result, this one has been sitting in its case for a year or two being neglected. Plus, in my advancing age, I am preferring lighter basses with more compact bodies.
It is a joy to play but on the heavier side at just over 5kg (never really bothered me though as I just use a wide, padded strap).

These basses usually sell for around £900 used. The preamp alone is around £150, the bridge about £70.

Could probably do with some fresh strings (it currently has Rotosound RB35s on it) and possibly a quick set-up.

Happy to post to UK/Ireland - buyer covers the fees.
