Epiphone Les Paul Standard Guitar

Jordanhill, Glasgow

£499

Email address verified

Description

For Sale is my lovely twenty-year-old Epiphone Standard guitar. It was made in 2004 at the Unsung factory in Korea. This is a great guitar that I just haven’t been using since I bought my MIJ Telecaster.

Perfect Xmas present for a budding guitarist!

I’d rather see it being used than sitting in its case. The Korean guitars are better made for sure (check out the various reviews in forums) – real quality for the price and this guitar has very few marks on it – see photos – a few wee marks on the back and the front even less.

I have upgraded the tuners with Gibson Deluxe Tuners (£70) and they have stabilised the tuning. I was never a fan of the original grovers. It’s always the first upgrade I make on any guitar as it really makes a difference. I think it works great on this as it looks more like a Les Paul. I should still have the Grovers if you want them. If I kept this guitar I’d probably do the pick-ups as the body is in such good nick.

Everything is functioning well on the guitar. Lovely action too – it was set up by Luthier Rory Dowling at Taran Guitars up in Fife. That set up and the tuners elevate this Epiphone above the others on sale for sure and you can feel it when you play. Also it is in the fantastic and classic Cherry sunburst with the maple cap. Mahogany body and neck (weighs in at 8lbs 10oz! Solid!). It is such a good looking guitar and the best finish for a Les Paul I think (speaking as a big Thin Lizzy fan Im a bit biased!). Frets have a lot of life in them (see photo).

It will come in Tribal Planet gig bag which is great.

If you want to arrange courier for your peace of mind happy to talk about that otherwise it looks like postage is about £20. I’ll box it up obvs too.

No returns obviously, but honestly when you get this guitar out of the box you will feel as happy with it as I was when I opened it up for the first time, it is a real beauty. With the tuners and set up this is a chance to grab something a wee bit special. Such a reluctant sale but I have a Martin HD-28 that needs an Anthem pick up put in!

Advertised elsewhere - no returns - can deliver in Glasgow area.
