Description
Here’s my double bass which is a real beauty – it has some really nice grain in the wood, and plays well, but I’m just sticking to electric basses now, so it is up for sale.
I’m looking to get my money back on it so the price is £950 – or I may trade against a good quality 4 string electric bass or even an upright electric….
The bass has no labels in it, but I’ve asked around, and I understand that it’s probably an East German “Musima” model from the 1970s or possibly a pre-Strunal Aria Excelsior imported to the UK by Boosey & Hawkes.
It belonged to a lady Music Teacher who taught the playing of stringed instruments. She sold it to me as she was retiring and moving to Birmingham, and, whilst she had the bass for over 40 years, she only now had room for her violin, viola, and her cello.
The bass has been fitted with Tomastic Infeld strings (about £200 a set).
It comes with the most fantastic “gig bag” as you can see in the photos. The bag has a pair of castors on the bottom, so you can just put the bass’s neck over your shoulder and pull it along.
There is a stand, a decent bow, 3 lots of Rosin for the bow, a Condenser Microphone that you can either clip to the bridge, or inside one of the “F” holes, a power supply and leads for the condenser microphone, and, finally a couple of Exercise books that I got from its former owner.
I’m in Royton, Near Oldham, just 5 minutes off the end of the A627M which is at Junction 20 of the M62.
